Trump Mocks ‘No Kings’ Protests, Says Schumer’s Losing Shutdown Battle

President Donald Trump recently dismissed the upcoming “No Kings” protests and criticized Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer over the ongoing government shutdown. The nationwide demonstrations, organized by progressive groups, are expected to involve over 2,500 rallies in what organizers describe as a defense of democracy. Some Republicans, however, have labeled the protests as politically motivated and anti-administration.

In a preview of his Fox News interview, Trump mocked the idea that he is being portrayed as a monarch. Responding to questions about the “No Kings” slogan, he rejected the comparison and said he’s being unfairly characterized. “They’re saying they’re referring to me as a king,” he said. “I’m not a king.”

Trump then turned his attention to the budget impasse behind the partial government shutdown, blaming Schumer for political gamesmanship. He criticized the senator’s leadership and suggested Democrats had miscalculated, giving the administration an opportunity to make permanent cuts to certain federal programs.

Among the proposed cuts, Trump mentioned eliminating a $20 billion infrastructure project strongly supported by Schumer. While the specific project wasn’t named, Schumer has long backed public works initiatives in New York, including transportation and housing developments.

In a separate exchange, Trump addressed growing tensions with Venezuela. He claimed President Nicolás Maduro had made sweeping offers in an attempt to prevent U.S. military actions targeting drug-trafficking operations in the Caribbean. The president described the situation as serious and ongoing.

U.S. forces have recently increased operations aimed at disrupting narcotics routes linked to Venezuela. According to administration officials, these actions have had a significant impact on criminal networks in the region. The remarks highlight the administration’s hardline stance on both domestic and foreign policy issues, even amid broader political challenges.
