Severe thunderstorms moved across parts of the state on Tuesday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, frequent lightning, and large hail. The storms developed quickly and prompted severe weather warnings as they created dangerous conditions for anyone outdoors.

One of the most significant reports was hail measuring up to **1.75 inches in diameter**, about the size of a golf ball. Hail this large can dent vehicles, damage roofs and siding, shatter windows, and harm crops during the peak growing season.

The hail formed inside powerful thunderstorms, where strong updrafts repeatedly lifted ice through freezing air until the stones became too heavy and fell to the ground. Along with the hail, some areas also experienced gusty winds and intense rainfall.

The largest hail report was recorded near **Sloan, Iowa**, where golf ball-sized hail was confirmed. After the storms passed, residents in the area were encouraged to check their homes, vehicles, and property for any signs of storm damage.
